This year The Red Cliffs Musical Society’s Pantomime is Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves. Written by Russ Gittins and Directed by Cyndy Wood.
Ali Baba, a poor free-lance camel driver, arrives home having accidentally discovered the treasure cave of the villainous Abu al Kapoun, leader of the Forty Thieves. His greedy brother, Kassim weedles the secret out of Ali and goes looking for the cave himself.
But when he’s caught by Al Kapoun and his Enforcer, Bashr al Bashr, it’s up to Ali and his friends to rescue him and work out a way to protect him from the robbers’ vengeance. This is a fun-filled family musical romp through the Arabian Nights as Ali Baba and his friends team up with the Genie of Aladdin’s lamp to give the notorious Forty Thieves their come-uppance.
Every year RCMS donate a percentage of the proceeds from the Panto to local charity. The Panto starts next week with evening shows from Thursday, Jan 12, 13 & 14 at 7.30pm. Matinee shows Saturday & Sunday Jan 14 & 15 at 2pm.
The Pantomime is showing at the St. Joseph’s Mercy Theatre – Cnr. Riverside Ave & Eleventh St, Mildura. Tickets are available on-line www.rcms.org.au or can be purchased at Toyworld, Cnr Lime Ave & Eighth St, Mildura. |
